  • Update on the future of the trust

    Published 10/09/19

On Monday 2nd September we welcomed our new interim CEO, Mrs Angela Barry, into the school.  She spoke to our staff team and thanked them for their hard work last year.
Mrs Barry also gave us an update in relation to the situation regarding the transfer of our South Dartmoor Academy schools to their new trust or trusts.  As you are aware, there was an initial and very ambitious transfer date set for the 1st January 2020 but it is now more realistic to look at a 1st February transfer date.  We were also told that, if there is a general election, government departments (including the Department of Education) enter a 6 week period of “purdah” that they are bound by.  This could clearly impact upon the Regional School Commissioner’s decision-making timeline.
Mrs Barry reassured us that she will be leading the Trust, alongside the Board, until the point of transfer, no matter if it falls later within the first half of the Spring term.
I will, of course, keep you up-to-date with further developments.
    Mr Bentall
