Headteacher Bulletin 04/10/19

HEADTEACHER BULLETIN 04/10/19

Dear parents, carers and children,
I am pleased to let you know that Mrs Chugg-Rogers, our Pepperdon classteacher, has announced that she is expecting her first child in March.  We send our congratulations and wish her and her family well during this time.
You will receive a letter today from Angela Barry, our interim CEO, about the proposed transfer of Moretonhampstead Primary School, and the six other schools in South Dartmoor Multi Academy Trust, to new trusts.  The DfE has been reviewing a number of options to look at the best split of the schools and it is the preference to look to have two sponsors; one for Widecombe-in-the-Moor Primary School, Ilsington Church of England Primary School Academy and Moretonhampstead Primary and a second sponsor for Ashburton Primary School, Buckfastleigh Primary School, South Dartmoor Community College and Atrium Studio School.
I do not have further information about who these sponsors might be yet but will, of course, keep you updated and I am fully confident about the future of our school.

HARVEST
Our Harvest Celebration will be held on Friday 18th October at 2pm.  You are all very welcome and each class will be performing a short piece for you.  We will also be holding our ‘Harvest Auction’ to raise funds for a charity chosen by our school council.  Please can we ask for your donations of fresh produce, tins, bottles, packets, etc to be in school by the end of the day on Thursday 17th.  Thankyou.

OKTOBERFEST
The Atrium School in Ashburton is holding a family fun event and would like to invite you all to go along.  There will be Trick or Treat activities, a raffle, free pumpkin carving, food and crafts on offer and it will take place on Thursday 17th October from 3.30 – 6.30pm.

SPORT
Children from years 3, 4, 5 and 6 have participated in a Tag Rugby event this week; one of the year 5/6 teams, the ‘Wolves’ came 3rd overall.  Year 6 went to an ‘Impact Festival’ at the College and used gym equipment new to them and came together with other schools to perform a dance.
To see more of what the children have been up to this week please follow this Facebook link as every class will have some news for you:
