Dear parents, carers and children,

The process, which is being led by the Office of the Regional Schools Commissioner for the South West (RSC SW), part of the DfE, is still open for queries and feedback. If you would like to make a representation regarding this, please email  Emails will be accepted up until the end of the week and all responses will be included within the meeting of the RSC SW’s Head Teacher Board on 21st October. Emails will not be responded to but I am assured that all will be considered.

Please send your own opinions and any matters you wish to be considered to:

Details off the board members and the meeting agenda are here:

Easdon have just had a fabulous trip rounding off their topic of ‘Wings, Wheels and Waterways’. They travelled on the Paignton to Dartmouth steam railway, following the route on a map, and then enjoyed a cruise along the River Dart.  I received so many positive comments from the staff about how well the children behaved and how engaged they were.

You are probably aware that Mrs Chugg-Rogers is expecting her first child in March and there are also other expectant mothers within our community so I am asking for everyone to be vigilant in regards to chickenpox.

This usually begins with a slight fever and feeling generally unwell for a couple of days before the spots appear, usually beginning on face/ scalp and back.  The rash is itchy and spots look flat and red; these later become raised and filled with fluid.  Chickenpox is highly infectious during the early stages and for 5 days after the spots appear.  As a result, children should be kept away from school for at least 5 days from the onset of the rash and until all lesions have crusted over. We are not aware of any current cases of chickenpox in school.  Thank you.

An entry form has been sent home in your child’s book bag for this free competition.  Winners will be presented with their prizes on fireworks night. Age categories are 0-5 years and 6-12 years.  Further entry forms are available from the Sports and Community Centre and the Tourist Information Centre and entries must be submitted by 31st October.

Firework Night celebrations will take place on Friday 1st November and advance tickets are available from the Sports Centre and Tourist Information Centre.

Well done to our Y5/6 team for performing so well in the Doel Cup. They faced stiff competition but showed real determination, resilience and teamwork, playing some excellent football. Y 3/4 also played fantastically and with great respect and sportsmanship.  Thank you if you were one of our parent helpers.
