School Reopening

The government have confirmed that we are in a position to reopen schools from Monday 1st June and I am writing with an update for you.

Firstly, I want to remind you that you have the right to decide whether or not your child returns to school as you know what is best for your child’s health and wellbeing.  If you can continue to keep them safely at home then you may continue to do so and there is no expectation,  currently, for children to return.  There will be no fines issued and home learning will continue to be provided (although staff will now only respond to children twice a week).

Reopening applies to children of key workers and to children in pre-school, reception, year 1 and year 6 only.    Year 6 children will be organised into 2 groups (A & B) and they will be told which group they are in on Monday.  All Year 6 children should arrive between 8.40 - 9.00am on Monday (and then, from Tuesday 2nd, Group A will need to arrive between 8.40-8.50am and Group B between 8.50-9.00am).

Please see further information about our staggered drop off and pick-up times for each year group below.  A reminder too that no parents will be able to access the school beyond the drop off points.  Contact will need to be via telephone or email.

'Team Moreton' was in school last Wednesday to make further preparations for reopening and I thank them very much for this.  The school looks a bit different but certainly not sterile or scary.  We have removed some soft furnishings such as the sofas and soft toys, desks have been separated and there are markings on floors to encourage social distancing as much as possible.

If your child is returning, they do not need to wear school uniform (but they may if you wish of course) and clothing must be appropriate for school.  Please can we also ask that, if your child was provided with a 'Home Learning Pack', that they bring this to school with them.  Children will be spending lots of time outside so a pair of trainers in school would be useful. They should not bring anything else in except a lunchbox, water bottle and coat, if required.

A reminder of our staggered drop off and pick up times:
